ISMTII 2009 Invitation

Dear colleagues and friends!

The Organizing Committees of the 9th International Symposium on Measurement Technology and Intelligent Instruments (ISMTII-2009) cordially welcome delegates all over the world to this event to be held in Saint-Petersburg, Russia.

The ISMTII Symposia have been successfully held every two years from 1989 in China, Hungary, Egypt, Hong Kong, UK, and Japan under the direction of ICMI (The International Committee on Measurements and Instrumentation).

ISMTII-2009 will take place in Russian Federation in Saint-Petersburg from June 29 to July 2, 2009.
The Symposium will focus in measurement science and metrology: micro- and nano- measurements; novel measurements and diagnostic technologies, including nondestructive and dimensional inspection; terahertz technologies for science, industry, and biomedicine; intelligent measuring instruments and systems for industry and transport; measurements and metrology for the humanitarian fields; education in measurement science.
Participation in this Symposium located in famous Saint-Petersburg, which from its foundation is a unique communication bridge between countries of all continents, is a very good opportunity for the exchange of experience, information and knowledge between the specialists from different fields.
St. Petersburg was founded in 1703 by Peter the Great as the capital of Russia and "a window to Europe".
Saint-Petersburg has earned the reputation of being one of the most beautiful cities in the world thanks not only to its unique palaces and churches, but also to its inimitable architectural ensembles of streets, canals and squares. The old part of the city is located on 42 islands at the Neva delta, where the river flows into the Baltic Sea. Saint-Petersburg is sometimes called a museum of bridges - it has over 300 of them. Saint-Petersburg was the capital until the Revolution and nowadays it is often called the Northern Capital of Russia. At present,  Saint-Petersburg is one of the leading scientific and cultural centers of the world. The  most  romantic  time  of the year in St.Petersburg is June, the month of the "white nights". On the longest days the sun stays up in the sky for almost 19 hours.

Welcome to ISMTII 2009 to Saint-Petersburg !

Prof. Yuri Chugui
Chair of the Symposium
